If it wasn't for having actual #goals in life I'd probably spend most of my time in coffee shops. I only started drinking coffee at around age 19 after having dated a serious Italian obsessed with his #Nespresso machine. I had no choice but to be converted.
I do love #coffee, but, in my view, that's not what coffee shops are about. To me they have always been a place of inspiration, regardless of what I'm #drinking. (Growing up, my grandfather used to ask me to make him cups of "hot water" - not #tea or coffee - just hot water. I thought it was funny until I became a starving artist in my 20s and couldn't afford to keep spending money on coffee/tea several times a week, so I'd sneak #teabags into my purse and just ask for #hotwater at #Starbucks... :-P One day I lost the need for teabags altogether... Something about just having a hot #beverage in your hand, regardless of what it is, is immensely #calming and #satisfying.) Whatever I'm #sipping, whether I'm catching up with friends, #writing, #daydreaming, making #bigplans... Coffee shops are a place where life stops for a #moment, a place for #reflection, to #settle into oneself, and let the #creative juices flow.
I'd much rather work from #coffeeshops than from home - it makes me feel #purposeful, #productive. I enjoy the feeling of putting myself in a #calm place, surrounded by people happily immersed in their own worlds. The #chatter makes me #glow and makes my world seem a little more #colorful. (Something about that chatter! #Inspiring and #romantic in an #inexplicable way...)
Coffee "culture" is truly a #culture in itself. It makes me feel like I'm part of something, and a little less alone in the world. I've met some of my dearest #friends in coffee shops, as they are generally great places to strike up #conversation or find #inspiration in something new. One can generally find me in a cozy corner with a book or on my #laptop, lost in a current #project, #peoplewatching, or #daydreaming like an idiot. Coffee shops are places I find myself #smiling for no reason, and maybe I find more #joy in a #cupofcoffee or tea than most, but mainly, I feel lucky to have the #privilege of #coffeeshopping - a true #firstworld privilege - and one of my favorite #luxuries and greatest #pleasures in #life.
